Sunkissed Acres is an Equine Rescue and Retirement facility. Our goals:
- to rehabilitate and re-home those who are able to still be of service to others
- to offer a quality, safe, lifetime home for the aged and infirm
- to end the suffering of those who it is deemed necessary
To date we are in de facto care of 33 horses. A few are doing therapeutic riding and special kid lessons so are not always at the farm, but they always return here.
We have adopted a total of 72 horses in 4 years, we have lost five to natural causes and old age.
We have euthanized three who were beyond our help.
We have assisted in off site adoptions as well but prefer not to. We will help find a new home but ask that the owner be totally honest about what they are giving up as well as be discreet in finding a new home. Ultimately, it remains your horse and your responsibility.
We do keep up with our adopted friends and to date, have had to take only one back from a negligent owner and have had one sold from under us. Tanner, thankfully, was found quickly.
Sunkissed Acres is a registered 501(c)(3) IRS tax deductible organization. Tax receipts can be issued for all donations.
